Visited your website - just starting to research my husband's mother's family tree - their ancestors originated from Portsmouth - we believe it was a James and Mary Biggs who went to the Falkland Islands roundabout 1840-70.

I enjoyed your site. Many thanks for your efforts. I don't think I am descended from the same Biggs, but I have only just started looking into my Biggs history. I am interested to hear from anyone linked to the Biggs in Gloucestershire. My Grandfather was Richard George Biggs (1885-1951) born & died in Wales. His father was Richard Ambrey Biggs born Bisley, Gloucester and worked on the Railways (1848-1918)(have birth certificate). His Father was Richard Biggs (Butcher in 1847 in Avening - Policeman in 1848) (have marriage certificate) His Father in turn was also Richard Biggs and was a Farmer. Many thanks for your link. I keep my family tree on www.frater.fsbusiness.co.uk

My mother was Joan Biggs and was a descendant of Abraham and Eliza Biggs who arrived in Australia in 1832. I got your website from my nephew Greg Wright who I believe you have already been in contact with. My sister and I spent hours in the Tasmanian archives researching this side of our family as we had not known anything about them as our mother was taken by her mother to New Zealand as a small child and lost touch with all her fathers side of the family and the only stories we heard were all wrong about our ancestors. Greg is doing a marvelous job of tracking down all manner of information and it is proving very interesting including all the long lost relatives we have. I don't know how many times we are removed but greetings cousin. Chris.

I am a descendant of William Biggs (the brother of Abraham who married Eliza Biggs who came to Tasmania Australia in 1833). William remained at the Bromham Mills in Bromham Bedfordshire England. His son Jesse came to Australia in the mid 1850s eventually moving his family to Tasmania (where I was born and lived for the first 16 years of my life). I have traced the connection to New Zealand where I regularly communicate with the 'cousins' there. One of the Biggs there put me in touch with your great web site. That has been a real find for me in my family history research and has saved me so much time and effort. I am going to get in touch with the web site founder to advise them of my branch. Thanks again for the great work.

Awesome stuff. I was so excited to finally find something that my help me break my logjam. I'm stuck on a William Biggs born cir 1794 married to Mary Polly Jenkins in North Carolina. They had the following kids:
   Duncan Asbury
   William Berry
   Elizabeth
   Mary Ann
   James J.
   Nancy A.
(only most of these I'm sure of).

I suspect that William's dad was William as well, and that is where I'm stuck. Any clues would go such a HUGE long ways.

By the way, my Biggs decendency goes like this (ends up in Idaho/Montana):

William (1794 Yancey Co. NC) (+Mary Polly Jenkins)
     Duncan Asbury (+Clarissa Caroline Vance)
John Ceehorn (middle name = Calhoon while in MT) (+Emma Boudinas - Last name spelled a bunch of ways, including Bodinas, Bodinus, etc.)
John Henry (Born in Spokane WA) (+Mary Geneva Dixon [related to Joseph M. Dixon, Gov. of Montana])
Henry Glenn (+Louise Marie Plouhar, married in Salmon ID)

Hello, Can you help please? I am searching for a link in my family tree and have found your tree during my search. The “Risby” branch of your tree starts with an Arthur & Edith? What information do you have concerning these people? Do you know if they are from the Ipswich, Suffolk area? If they are I might have some more information that could link our trees. I have (to be confirmed) a Charles & Lucy Risby – with sons Alfred, Arthur and David. Alfred was my great grandfather. I believe Arthur Abraham Risby, born in 1864, was his brother. Arthur married an Emily Bullard in about 1898. I have no record of their children at this time. Could this Arthur be the Arthur in your tree? Best regards Keith Risby

I lived in the house 82 St Margaret's Terrace, London SE18 7RN from 1977-1995. The house was owned by a 'Ruby' Blackler who died in 1977 aged 82. Her nephew Norman Blackler sold the house to my mother Manjit Ahluwalia in 1977. My mother a widow was the first woman in Britain to obtain a mortage! Norman Blackler came from Welling, Kent. It was a private sale. The 1901 census reveals that 'Ruby' then aged 5 real name was Lily Blackler and she appears in your biggsworld family tree. Interestingly, her siblings were of the building trade. One Owen Blackler was a Carpenter at the Arsenal House, Woolwich. Now the Royal Arsenal is a luxury housing development. My sister Pearlita Seth is selling the house on St Margaret's Terrace. The memories of the Blackler's are in the walls. There is no 80. The next door house is no. 78. no. 82 is a corner plot with two houses end of terrace. No. 80 had a huge a bill board on the outside of the building. They knocked down the St Magaret's church opposite the house in 1975. The old vicarage still exists thouse on Vicarage Lane.

Hey, My name is Emily Brunwin and i am 15, My dads name is Benjamin York William Brunwin (born 1950) and his father's name was Herbert Jack (1912-1990), who is listed on your website. Herbert Jack married a lady called Eva York, who is still alive, aged ninety. They had two children, my aunt, Susanne Macdonald, who has two daugters, and my dad. My dad married my mum, Jacqueline Wesley (born 1952)and they had me and my three brothers Daniel (born 1978), William (born 1980) and Joseph (born 1992). We have never met anyone with the surname of Brunwin, apart from imeadiate relatives, and are quite interested to know if there are any still around? Also, in which way is the Brunwin family tree connected to the Biggs family tree? If anyone could help us with our queries, we would greatly appreciate you emailing us, thankyou, and welldone on the great website.

I have traced back to Samuel Woolgar and a Theodosia. These may be the same as in your tree. The dates seem to tie up. I have a child born of these two in 1786 (Sarah), Ann in 1791 and Hannah in 1793. Hannah is how we link. All these Woolgars come from around Steyning in Sussex. Could you please let me know if these may be the same Samuel and Theodosia. Carole

I only know as far back as my great great grandfather who was named John Biggs. He had several children and lived in West Virgina. (Approximate dates of birth are in parenthesis.) The children's names were Ocie (1898), Ogoldia(1900), Oneita (1904), Ozelier(1902), Osby (1906), Omer(1908) , Overton (1910), and Mike (1912). I was told that Mike's name began with an O also but that he changed it legally. If anyone knows of anything regarding this family line, please let me know. Thanks!

I have never completed my family tree research. My mother and father were both Biggs' and came from the Montgomery, Opp and Andalusia area. I think the family settled in Virgina, after leaving Engaldn, I am told Wales. Just wonder if there is a link.

Wow... This is fascinating stuff. I can't beleive I found so many other Brunwins, I thought we were the only ones left. I have noticed that my father isn't included in the family tree and that my grandmother is still listed as living... she died 4 years ago. I also know that my grandfather married again after divorcing my grandmother and possibly had more children with the new wife. Please contact me if you would like more information. Zoe.

Well done for putting this together, so interesting to see where we are from. I am from the Lanzon male and Edwards who didnt seem to be around for that long. Didnt even know that 100 odd years ago i was a bigg, would not be funny having a last name like that now since the tallest member of my family is a towering 5 and half feet : ) Tim

Hello Biggsys, I live in Hampshire, England with my wife and two children. We have quite a large family my father, john, being the eldest of four brothers being born to john william biggs and nancy chiffinch. One of my uncles emigrated to australia in the 50's but everyone else is in the UK. Hopefully we have a connection, if not congratulations on an interesting website which has helped while away a few hours on an otherwise very boring day!
