Peter was born on April 1st, 1825 in Saint Cuthberts, Edinburgh, Midlothian,Scotland. Peter's father was William Dalyiel (Dalziel) and his mother is Catherine McInroy. He has three brothers and four sisters, named Robert, Alexander, James Mcinroy, Catherine, Margaret Wilson, Isabella and Anne. He is the oldest of the eight children.
