Alan Cooper was born on August 14th, 1893 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Alan Cooper's father is Thomas Gray and his mother was Margaret Smith. His maternal grandfather was Cooper Smith and his maternal grandmother is Alice Lydia Needham. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Roy Thomas, John Vivian, Dorothy and Ida Beatrice. He was the second oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 95 in 1988.
