Mary was born in 1875 in Burstow, Surrey, England. Mary's father was William Kenward and her mother was Ellen Sargant. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Kenward and Amelia Daniels. She had six brothers and five sisters, named William, Henry, John, Albert, Arthur, Alfred, Emily, Clara, Rosina, Lillian and Edith. She was the second oldest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 11 in 1886 in Reigate, Surrey, England.
