Ellen was born in 1858 in Lingfield, Surrey, England. Ellen's father was Abraham Kenward and her mother was Mary Botting. Her paternal grandparents were Josiah Kenward and Ann Bashford. She was an only child. She died at the age of 13 in 1871 in East Grinstead, Sussex, England.
