Ruby was born on April 2nd, 1897 in Franklin, Tasmania, Australia.¹ Ruby's father is John James MAXFIELD and her mother is Jane WILCOX. Her maternal grandparents were Thomas WILCOX and Jane NEEDHAM. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Alfred Frederick, John Percy, William Henry, Mary Margaret, Emily Jane, Olive, Rose Maud (Rosie) and Elvie. She was the third youngest of the nine children. She died at the age of 6 in 1903.¹
