John was born on October 21st, 1698 in Henfield. John's father was William Woolgar and his mother was Sarah Hill. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Woolgar and Grace. He had four brothers and two sisters, named William, Samuel, William, Stephen, Sarah and Mary. He was the second oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 47 on May 5th, 1746 in Henfield.
