Grace was born on November 23rd, 1919 in Rosythe, Scotland. Grace's father is Donald Rankine and her mother is Janet Farish. Her paternal grandparents are Dougald (Dugald) Rankine and Catherine Marquis; her maternal grandparents are Edward (Ted) Farish and Ellen Campbell. She had two brothers and four sisters, named James Farish, Donald, Kate, Janet, Elizabeth and Jean. She was the second oldest of the seven children. She died at the age of 95 in October 2015.
