Jean was born on February 11th, 1928. Jean's father is Donald Rankine and her mother is Janet Farish. Her paternal grandparents are Dougald (Dugald) Rankine and Catherine Marquis; her maternal grandparents are Edward (Ted) Farish and Ellen Campbell. She had two brothers and four sisters, named James Farish, Donald, Kate, Grace, Janet and Elizabeth. She was the second youngest of the seven children. She died at the age of 19 in 1947 in of polio.
