John SMITH

John was born on March 20th, 1780 in Frederick Co., Virginia.¹ John's father was Jacob SMITH and his mother was Patience BALLINGER. His paternal grandfather was Joseph SMITH and his paternal grandmother is Rachel BEALS BALES; his maternal grandparents are Josiah BALLINGER and Elizabeth. He had five brothers and seven sisters, named Joseph, Josiah B., Jacob, Isaac S., Seth, Elizabeth, Rachel, Nancy Ann, Mary, Lydia, Sarah J. and Hannah. He was the third oldest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 72 on May 4th, 1852 in Springfield, Clark Co., Ohio. He was buried in Woodland Cem., Xenia, Green Co., Ohio.¹¹
